Yes, FREE iPod!!!
When I first heard of getting a free iPod, I laughed. Who would just give iPods away, for free??? Well, it's real and it's pretty darned simple to do:
- Start by clicking here and setting up an account, which sets you up as a referral of mine.
- Then, complete one of the many offers they give you... these offers are things like AOL Trial, DVDs for $.50, Free Diet Pills, etc... all things you can get for cheap and/or return for little to NO cost.
- After you complete an offer, then I get credit for you (I need up to five people to complete an offer).
- Then, if you're interested in getting a free iPod, too, then you refer people. If five of the people you referred complete offers, then you get a FREEEEEEEE iPod!
This is about the only way I would like to get an iPod. I have no real desire to pay $200+ to get one and this is a perfect opportunity! Thank you for your support.

In an off-the-wall newstory, a black bear was found passed out drunk in a campground from drinking 36 beers. 36 beers!!! They even trapped the bear the next day with food and MORE BEER! Maybe he was thinking that he needed to level himself out, or something.

Movie Review: Extraordinary Crap
Tonight, I laid low, took a break from all of this week's hecticness. I cleaned my place, washed some clothes, and decided to sit back, relax and watch a movie. Since I use Netflix and have a DVR, I usually have a plethora of movies to choose from. I wasn't in a serious mood, so that ruled out "Philadelphia," and I wasn't in a playful mood, so that ruled out "The Rundown." No, on this particular night, I was in a "awful movie" mood.
Only one movie that I had on hand fit that bill, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," starring Sean Connery. This was yet another comic book turned movie, unfortunately, it doesn't do "Spider-Man" and "X-Men" justice. In fact, this film elevates almost every other comic book to a much higher level.
I remember seeing the trailers for this film, and I wasn't impressed. I should've stuck with my original impression, because the full length movie wasn't much better than the trailer.
ILM should be embarrassed that they did the effects for this movie. In fact, they should be double-embarrassed since they did the effects for "Van Helsing," too. You know, ILM has just grossed me out with their quality of effects (see "The Mummy," "The Mummy Returns," and "The Scorpion King"). What happened to ILM? They were sooooo good at one point in time (see "The Abyss," "Terminator 2," and all of the "Star Wars" movies [minus most of the new ones and the Special Editions]). I think ever since Pixar broke off and did their own thing, the quality of work for the money they're paid to do it, just doesn't match up. They need a kick in the booty. Just look at the list of movies they've done and think to yourselves, which ones had good effects.
Anyway, the movie itself, if asked to describe it in one word, the word would be "wtf." First off, this is a comic book movie, so you just have to go with the flow. But c'mon... when you can see what the invisible man drinks, but can't see his blood, urnie or poo-poo, then something is wrong. When the dude who can't die gets shot 50 times and heals, and so do his clothes that were a) shot 50 times as well, and, b) his shirt torn off, then something is wrong. And when the vampire girl can walk around in the sunlight without harm, then you KNOW something is wrong.
I don't even want to get started on the story itself, it was just as silly. So, in conclusion, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" sucked. Go rent it, and laugh.

Moldy Cooler, BLECH!
I'm bummed. Last night, our softball team lost our tournament game, 9-8, in the last inning. The main reason I'm bummed is because I don't like to lose. But last night was different, I wasn't too upset. It was just a game, we all had fun playing, it was just unfortunate that someone had to lose. Overall, it was a great season, we finished third in league play and I was the male all-star for our team. I already can't wait for next year.
In other news, Kansas City's alternative newspaper "The Pitch" has finally reviewed The New Tragedies' four-song EP. The review itself isn't that positive for Aaron's band, but you really have to take what The Pitch has to say with a grain of salt. I say that any press right now, is good press. And if you haven't heard any of The New Tragedies, then you need to, they're nothing like what the review says. Keep your chin up guys and gals!
Last thing, and this is more words of advice than it is news. If you go to a Royals game and you tailgate beforehand with beers and Arthur Bryant's bbq, do NOT leave the trash in your cooler for five+ days. It molds. Quickly.

Two Separate Weekends with Family
Family Weekend #1
Meris came up for the weekend and we had a blast! From eating out at River Market Brewery and listening to opera-singing karaoke people to chowing down on some Arthur Bryant's before the Royals game, I hope that this weekend isn't a one-time thing. We went shopping on the Plaza and at Zona Rosa (though Meris claimed to have "all" of the clothes we saw) and also watched "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle", and then ended the evening with "Finding Nemo." It was a nice and relaxing weekend with promises to do it again.
Family Weekend #2
I know, I know, I never finished up the Seattle trip postings. Well, the reunion was incredible. I just love hanging out with everyone, listening to stories, telling some of my own, eating good food, and playing washers (the Gunderson-family past time). I stayed at Alan's place with the other guys and met his pig, what a site. Papaw whooped us all in washers (except once, where Garrett and I prevailed) while we melted in the record-heat for Seattle.
The weekend was very fun, but of course didn't last near long enough. The highlight of this family gathering was Garrett, losing his driver's license... somewhere. I swear, if his head wasn't connected to his body... kidding Gar.

POST NUMBER 100!!!!!
Yooooo! It's been a while since I've updated, and I apologize, but I don't think anyone was beating down the door, holding their breath and wishing that I'd go ahead and update. Seriously.
So, what's new? Well, first off, on Tuesday the new Arena for Kansas City was approved by voters!!! The final tally was close to 58% Yes - 42% No. This is such a huge thing for KC and now paves the way for us to get an NBA or NHL franchise. We're still a long way out though. Ground is supposed to be broken in the next 365 days with the doors opening some time in 2007. Congratulations KC, now, let's get the Royals downtown, too.
Today, my sister Meris comes into town to spend the weekend with me. We don't have any rigid plans yet, except that I hope to take her to a Royals game tomorrow afternoon with Aaron, Bev, and Aaron's brother Matt. Should be a great weekend.
Since returning from Seattle I haven't done much in terms of getting my photos online (for viewing or on Snapfish), nor have I given a full report on how the reunion was. I plan on getting that up soon, but in the meantime, I was going to help my cousin log on to Snapfish so that she could see pictures from a previous family reunion. When I attempted to log in, this is what I got (upper pic is of log in screen, lower is the message I received):
This makes no sense to me. Not one bit. If Snapfish has the logic to say, "if someone logs in, then show them this error message," why couldn't they just NOT allow people to log in because they KNOW their site is down for maintenance? It's a faux-pa on the web and that silliness is just lousy.
Anyway, that's all I got. Talk to you all later. Oh! One more thing. Remember how I said blogging is the next big thing on the web??? Check this funny (fake) article out, on The Onion.

KC, Go Vote on Tuesday!!!
Tuesday, August 2nd is a big day for Kansas City in the polls. Arguably one of the biggest votes ever in KC is on the table – a new downtown arena. I, Seth Gunderson, am in favor of this idea (along with a new downtown baseball stadium) and think the city really needs it. The arena will be home to a couple of Big 12 Tournaments, probably some NCAA Tournament stops, hopefully a new NBA or NHL franchise, and will be located right next to the new Power and Light Entertainment District.
Unfortunately, there are those who oppose building an arena. Why? Well, they say it's because the tax-payers of Kansas City will end up paying for the arena. I'm not exactly sure how that will work, since the arena tax is a Hotel and Rental Car tax. Unless we Kansas Citians are paying for all of our out-of-towners to come here, stay in a hotel and drive around... then no, we won't be paying for it.
The opposition goes on to say that people coming to stay in KC won't want to pay those taxes. First of all, a majority of people coming to KC come here for business, so the tax doesn't matter. And secondly, NO ONE wants to pay taxes, but we do.
Here's the thing. The opposition is being led by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Enterprise is based in St. Louis, MO. Oddly enough, St. Louis is very upset that we're about to build an arena, because they want an NBA franchise in their city. Enterprise, the main face in the opposition, has now put forth approximately $687,000 towards the anti-arena campaign. Another odd thing... the PR firm that is assisting Enterprise is Fleishman-Hillard, also a St. Louis-based company. So, is it Enterprise and Fleishman that don't want this arena built... or is it St. Louis?
I'm not going to tell you how to vote. I just want you to go and vote. But before you do, make sure you know the facts behind the arena vote!
