Ashes to asses?
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent - which marks forty days before Good Friday. Tomorrow also marks the day that I will give up eating Tortilla Chips and dip (salsa, guacamole, etc) and drinking soda until Good Friday. The soda part won't be so hard, but the chips and dip... ohhhhhhh boy. It'll be a chore, but I know I can do it.
Some things I thought about giving up, but didn't make the final cut...
* Feeding Simon
* Using the restroom
* Filling my car up with gas
* E-mailing
* Breakdancing
* Canoeing
* Boots
* Tape

Star Wars on DVD
A while back LucasFilm announced that they would finally be releasing the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD. Great news! The only bad thing? They're releasing the Special Editions, not the original cuts... this is NOT cool. So, go sign the petition to have the originals released!

Shake it like a polaroid pi-ic-cha!
In response to the recent article regarding shaking polaroid pictures...
If the picture has a protective layer, then does it really need to be shielded from wind? It's not like wind is going throw the picture into a groove somewhere, and then blow it back and forth worse than a human would. And they're wrong about how people should avoid to bend or twist their pics, this helps it develop faster... wait, who in the hell would do that? While they're at it, why don't they say that people shouldn't burn them, or hold them under water for extended periods of time, much less put it in a paper shredder? The people at Polaroid should cover all bases, because just the other day I cooked my fresh set of polaroids in my cheese dip and they were ruined. Thanks a lot Polaroid, you didn't warn me about what hot cheese and diced tomatoes would do. I'll try sticking them in Simon's poop tomorrow... something is bound to make my pictures develop faster.

Firetrucks!?!
Last night as I returned home from bowling, I drove past the street where the entrance to my building is and noticed three firetrucks with their lights flashing. Instantly, I was curious about what was going on. Then I started to think, what if my loft was on fire? Or worse yet, what if Simon were hurt?
I got inside the building and noticed that doors that usually stood open were closed. There wasn't a single person I could see or hear in the building, so I proceeded with caution to my door. I would briefly touch the door handles before I opened any door, just to make sure there wasn't a fire that I was about to walk into. I got inside my loft and every thing was fine. Simon was okay and I'm pretty sure he was wondering what was happening.
I went to the bottom floor to see what was going on. When I got down there, about eight firemen came out of the lower level garage and one said that a sprinkler head had busted in the garage. Not really a false alarm, but a welcome one for everyone in my building I'm sure. Shoosh... and yesterday I had just signed up for renter's insurance - how would that have looked had my place been on fire. Thank God for the small things.

So... I'm a geek.
Whether it's bidding on a showing of the original trilogy on reel-to-reel in my home, or buying the newest book from my favorite author, I'm not embarrassed to say that I'm a Star Wars geek. The myth of Star Wars is completely and totally sweet, and I love it.
Since working at VML, there's something I've always wanted to do. It's a seasonal thing, so I could only take advantage of it maybe twice a year. Last week we had a great snow here in Kansas City, so I finally took advantage of the situation.
The following is not real... but sure is funny if you like Star Wars. Or... not.

Did you see the boob?
Last night Aaron and I celebrated Simon's first night at the loft by the Superbowl. Simon didn't watch much, if any, of the game. In fact, I think he pretty much ignored us the whole night. But that's okay, we enjoyed the closely-fought game between New England and Carolina.
While the big attraction for the Superbowl is usually the commercials (and how much each precious second costs), this year's game was marked by two separate occasions of nudity, or near-nudity.
The first, and very obviously planned, was Janet's boob exposure. That darned Justin Timberlake 'accidentally' pulled off one of Janet's breast cups. They both looked completely stunned when it happened and CBS responsively switched to a different camera so we wouldn't see anything. Whatever. Janet's career needed a boost, and this is what they did?
When I perform at next year's Superbowl, you won't believe your eyes when you see what I do.
